What's the future of education? Week five / Actvity 5.5

In an Ideal world, how do you think education Should be Organised?

I think we can not talk about an ideal world, because education is based on the capitalist system indicating to start should clear the gap between public and private education, it is like having an idea of putting education to communism and that would serve the purpose of the state, indenpendientemente of which approach the financial economic system in which we find ourselves.

Perhaps education would be like the post I published: is there a unicorn in education? https://class.coursera.org/futureeducation-001/forum/thread?thread_id=862 would be something like the Brazilian Paulo Freyre described his liberating and transformative education, but I can not find anything like this economic system which Freyre said.

Maybe I need to stop thinking embedded in the system of capitalism and globalization and to analyze it, but for now it is very difficult, would ideally education free for all

What do you think Priorities Reflect It Should? and Who should be responsible for Ensuring That it is of a good quality?

Education is the main quality of being imperfect, so always comes with search for new knowledge, which will enable it to adapt to the social and cultural context. Do I talk to see education only as formal education, but as mentioned in Piaget's theory of stages informal NFE and formal, while not losing that idea I think is the greatest quality.

Is there anything from the wall That Has Informed padlet your position?

It strikes me that several parties are in education and social movements are impacting the government, or in education reforms promoted by the government resulting in social movements

What future for education? Week five / Activity 5.3

[English]

At this point perhaps you could read me a bit radical or Marxist, but to speak of the Mexican educational system must retake the phrase that the writer Mario Vargas Llosa in 1990 say a Mexican television program:

"Mexico is the perfect dictatorship The perfect dictatorship is not communism, not the USSR, not Fidel Castro The perfect dictatorship is Mexico, is the dictatorship camouflaged has the characteristics of dictatorship..... Stay, not a man , but of a political party. And a political party that is immovable. "

Mexico finished upgrading to the education laws, designed to build on our strengths in education and improve our weaknesses as OECD country and the results of the PISA test (we are among the fiftieth locations vary by area knowledge), your levels are as baselines in any country, there is a certain concentration of top schools in cities than in rural areas. Several students have financial support from scholarships for single mothers, athletes, students of excellence, now many universities and highschools are connected with schools worldwide to facilitate student exchange.

But Mexico is a country of contrasts and as I have mentioned several times, the context determines much of the education and culture of a people. Mexico is a culture created mostly by television, is contrasting view that television is a must in any household, the Mexican would think the tv, it will not normally be bad, it is a means of communication (must have several functions inform, entertain, communicate, and so on), but it is a private monopoly (this is not a matter to be discussed) does not create program content or make people think, that could generate a narcotic dysfunction in the viewer or worse, reactions have a raised Huxley or Orwell

Here the problem is that children spend much time on video games, internet and tv that paying attention in school. And that in my country educates and apparently wrong.
A small example: in the world of Brazilian soccer football 2014, the Mexican Senate was in session reforms (including education and energy) very important for the country, some people were in favor and against the majority, there were demonstrations, marches teachers, went #TT on twitter and it looked like people had united against the government, but there is a saying in Mexico: 'better skill than strength' and dictatorship is perfect, the session passed reforms when the parties playing the Mexican national football and nobody complained, suddenly there was no marches, no strikes, no one did anything.

The point of being an educator in my country and perhaps the most difficult is to teach students not to be diligent, to question, always ask and think for yourself. Being a person who wants to learn for their benefit not for forcing him his family which is conscious of itself, to leave the typical Mexican education system.

What future for education? Week four / Activity 4.5

How has your experience of school shaped you as a learner, and as an adult?

In my learning I had teachers with different educational methods, kinder garden with an affective and emotional method, or the heliocentric method the student is an empty vessel and you have to fill it with knowledge, others used the repetition and memorization (preferred method of elementary) school-based behavioral paradigm, others that his department was constructive and reinforces the theory with practice and the creation of knowledge and competence to work it. To the point of being a more self-reflective method continuous learning.

I think the point of education is to be progressive, as it goes by level you have to teach the basics so that you can move made more complex, slowly and develop your study method

In what ways do you think your own schooling Could have been improved, and what do you think Priorities Are the Most Important for schools today?

I believe that my education could improve if I had a constructive training, loved chemistry, unfortunately in middle school and high school teacher of chemistry lab always, I think if you show how it is a mixture, a base or a reaction in chemistry is like magic, at least I do marvel me. Or in subjects such as physics do more didactic problems, fewer numbers in notepad and perhaps build something to explain or thermodynamic Newtow laws. It's only missing a more didactic approach in some materials, there on out I liked my education.

What future for education? Week five / Activity 5.1

First of all an apology, if you see this post before the 4.5, due to time I moved to item 5 of course, but the subject is just above 4.5.

How Sir Ken Robinson mentions, the current model of education is obsolete yet again, in the middle ages no government supported the education of the people, only the wealthy or influential merchants could access a costly and religious education.

Current education comes with illustration and born with the industrial revolution, because the roughly the population needed at least I know how to read and do basic math.

Now why education is currently invested by governments? think it's an easy answer, to raise its GDP growth. If the study population is not a guarantee or a right to public education would both.

1. ignorant nation, atypical of context, culture and interaction with the world, a nation that can not compete in the world.
2. The level of education you have that nation would be like living in the middle ages again, the manual and basic work would be predominant (not saying that this work is bad) but work a whole nation of the field is not good growth for GDP, in contrast, need engineers for roads and bridges, agricultural bio to see the genetics and breeding of plants and fruits that are worked, trained teachers to educate people, people who know law and policy, to reform laws according to the context and time we live in, to sum up a conglomerate of people need to qe your country succeed and grow gross domestic product or your country does not sink.

What future for education? Week four / Activity 4.1

I have two distinct memories of school at different stages of my life.

The first elementary school, got a new part of town, new suburban housing development. But it was quite far from the city -in that time- and there were many buses to the city. My family decided to get into school in the state, which was a shabby warehouse (no ceiling or roof parts pegboard, broken walls and holes). After a huge tantrum that only made my mom take determination to enroll there. But even deprived of some things, we learned that education is not provided concrete walls, you'd get people with values and ideals and the desire to want to teach, you give it to live with peers and interact in groups. The school was slowly growing and improving its infrastructure and learning competences would play a good role and students from reputed schools, estaddo schools and private schools. Today, almost twenty years since I left elementary school, this is one of the best schools in the city and improved, is equipped with technology and has a good teaching staff.

In middle school, the school was huge, it was in conjunction with the high school. We were about three thousand two hundred students, was a large (four acres) school has an auditorium for two hundred thousand people, there are fields for soccer, basket ball, volley ball, a running track and gym, workshops, libraries, etc and to be a school of government, not bad is not it?
The interesting thing here is that we were so many students and very small authorities to end up being self sufficient, looking to create an identity and is where your values are involved, your beliefs and approach the individual who may you be in the future, this school has points in between is considered good for some people and bad for another. In my opinion it was a school education and also gave me the opportunity to let me see who was going to be.

Finally  in words of  José Martí:
A school is a forge spirits.

What future for education? Week tree / Activity 3.5

Well before anything else, to watch the videos taught me that teachers do not see people for what they are, we see them as machines, which must always be willing to work in a timely manner. I find it an interesting cultural fact which also happens in London and here in my Mexico, this curious affair reminded me of a saying applied to teachers:

Perro no come perro, pero maestro sí come perro / Dog does not eat dog,
but if you eat master teacher. It's pretty bad and numbing of projects and tasks because definitely in the classroom are the one who joins the group (if you're a good teacher) and guides to develop pupils theme based on the program measures its competence and is always on the lookout for their students, but out of that classroom, most of the time one is struggling with and even envy of other co-chair, which speaks against the culture we have in my country. At the end of a good teacher is often distinguished by the way they treat students with tact and kindness, without losing the character of education.

After watching the videos, I think the best teacher is one who is flexible, adapting to situations and does not force them to be as he wants, who has the sense to accept that it is a human being and not have all the answers, someone who at the end of their working day, have a few minutes to think about their teaching practice and is willing to change for the better. Recall that a teacher is an agent of change.

What future for education? Week tree / Activity 3.1

A good, a bad or worst teacher....

I think in our life we have good and bad experiences with teachers.

Influences the way of being with a group, which I think was very good teachers in elementary school.

In elementary education, the teacher is attentive to their students and their initiation, development and completion of skills throughout the course. I have good memories of teachers responsible for teaching practices and how they cleared our doubts and gave a very large class.

The problem with bad teachers believe that emerges in middle school and then going to college. In elementary school, one teacher is responsible for teaching all subjects, but in middle school, high school or college teacher teaches a subject and then another teacher other subject the next time and so have different teachers, personalities, ideologies characters and practices.

My problem before college, has always been the subject of mathematics. I had a hard time being an average student in class, I think it was about the art of teaching math teachers, like a mold: they gave the class in charge homework and were always easy exercises (in the coming exam more difficult and one he stayed to face WHAT! when did we see this?) and if you did not understand the teacher continued the advance to avoid altering its programming. They were not looking for a significant learning experience in students.

In college the teacher's work is finished to train students, strongly influenced by the ideology and professional experience that counts to master the subject and click with the group.

Unfortunately in Mexico's public schools have a variety of teachers who go from good to terrible, there are many who have unions and go boards and committees, that are allowed to fail and they do not come to class or medically incapacitated (often unjustified) and the student never sees in that semester. I spend I had 2 teachers not remember what subjects they taught or how they were physically. That is a sad thing to have these people in front of a group or occupying a place that someone else could do a better job.

At the end they are people who do not like teaching, maybe they are just there for the money. Good thing that my mind did not retain these images and stay with the teachings of good teachers and those who were not good, but struggled to teach and that it was hard to learn and pass their subjects. That is the challenge of education.

What future for education? Week two / Activity 2.5

My evaluation for my education has always been evaluated numerically 10 - Excellent 9-very well and we could continue; and at age 15 I understood that the number does not embed the knowledge or mastery of the subject which actually means we should know, depending on the number assigned to us. I know that in other countries the evaluation is lettered A,-B, C + ... but I think in the end for me a traditional evaluation of the education system in my country is somewhat subjective.

A true assessment is determined by various factors, which must be sought is the acquired knowledge and that is what has to be measured. And that's what is working in several countries (including mine) a real way of evaluating the students

My father is an engineer, he knows math ways that my knowledge in this area is limited, on the other hand, even though I am his son do not have that intelligence with math, math equations, derived .. . costs me a lot of work and effort to get to have a good performance. But what I can learn math not forget me and I can give you a practical use of that knowledge. That is true knowledge

My scores are average scores, middle school average was 8.9 or 8.4 in the high school, college 8.6. I do not think it has affected me negatively, in fact on standardized tests to enter the school my score was acceptable.
I think the worst mistake we could have is to put that label 10 perfect, intelligent, because we are not, we are developing human beings and believe us a grade ten implies that we know everything and there is still so much we do not know the way learning and learning but we still fall into ignorance and that is the death of the same man.

For this reason I consider myself a self learner, always looking to learn and give an application to that knowledge in my life, because if we do not want to keep learning would deny our innate capacity for curiosity we have had thousands of years ago.

What future for education? Week two / Activity 2.1

I think the intelligence is in different levels and exits many kinds, the intelligence depends the person's skills, because I consider the human intelligence is focus in the capacity of resolve problems and transform the world arround him. And in the lapse of the time the concept intelligence  has been evolving.

By example about me and my education's formation before of secundary the teacher focus on intelligence was linked to the memory (memorizing facts, dates, names) and logical habilities. But in secundary this concept change to the capacity of understand a knowledge and explain in easy words.
Now, the look change again, we know about the differents intelligences: emotional, kinestesic, spacial, logical, musicial, among other things.

It's difficult to say if I'm intelligent, I don't have a result of IQ Test ( I dont see me naked by the streets running and screaming Eureka!) My moments of cleverest, they are Iike a normal thing, I think my inteligence is most emotional and empatic. Is easy to me understand the people or only watch they know what does .

My profession is graphic designer in a newspaper, so I work with the lateral thinking, always trying to find alternatives to represent something  of a graphic sign, for only to simple thing: send a message to the  community, to the people  and they can understand it.

This is my intelligence, my proof... perhaps doesn't looks like a  brilliant genius of logical and mathematics, neither can be find the cure for a patology or compose a magnificent simphony , but  I remember that the intelligence is distinct and grows in the people  with different skills, and  I don't like to say: I'm clever or brainy only for say  it, I think that is a big ego.I have this quality and makes you look at things from another angle, because I can connect with the people and report to them about of situations or decissions importants for they and their life.

Firts essay... Future of Education

What do you think you will be able to get out of this course? And what ideas do you already have about the future of education?
Note: I apologize, my English is not very good and use the google translator, it might read bad or has no consistency, I hope that does not happen, apologies and thanks.

In this course the future of education we can see what are the ways to we can learn, maybe looking it like to make a 'custom suit' depending on our skills. Learning is something innate in human evolution, perhaps our intelligence, or maybe our creativity, but we are always learning. From how to make simple tools to know how our brain works.
Currently we have the advantage of working with the information very accessible way, before this was extremely difficult, at least in my country learning has grown considerably the access to education and reforms to the education laws, but above all the Internet; of course watching this under the optics of formal education or traditionally now any questions we can consult online, regardless of whether the source is in our language consultation, continent or not, this kind of global village, is like to said the Canadian Marshall McLuhan.
A form of interconnection by a global network without losing our sense of cultural identity. I see education as an active process, a living thing that changes, adapts to the times, circumstances and our needs, local, national and global.
Education as human thought has come from the great choice to evolve with us as we move forward and education is also developed. An example is used to think our ancestors that the earth was flat and was supported by four elephants on top of a giant turtle, the idea changed to one that said it was flat and the center of the universe (heliocentric theory), then discarded and raised the idea remains to this day, the earth is round (oval good, but not go into details).
The point is that while more research man, education will continue changing. And we humans will always be linked to education. Whether from how to drive a car, use a computer, take a class online, develop differential equations or use a hammer to build something, we are always learning.
To summarize we can say that the future of education is to learn from each other and from what surrounds it.
